My brother Laurence was a gentle, kind , soft hearted man who was loved by all who knew him. He
would do anything for anyone. I was 5yrs old when he was born and from then on we were as close as a
brother and sister could be. We idolised each other, together with our little sister Lesley-Ann.
Laurence was the only son. Mum and Dad thought the world of him, he was the apple of thier eye and
a true gentleman. My Mum and Laurence where like two peas in a pod, the same ways, same nature, he
was always her little boy, right up until the day he died.
Laurence was born on the 14th May 1957 at home in Westvale Kirkby, he went to St Michaels junior
school and then on to St Kevins senior school.
He left school and took up an apprenticeship and qualified as a plasterer.
Laurence had a daughter called Lauren, sadly she was only 7 yrs old when he passed away. He also
had nieces and nephews, Gary , Lesley Lee and Jason who he idolised, unfortunately he never lived
to see my beautiful grandchildren, his great niece Emma Nicole and his great nephews James Paul
and William but I know he is watching over them all. In fact James is the double of Laurence when he
was a baby. He was also a wonderful brother in law to my husband Paul they were more like brothers,
they were very much alike. True gentleman, sadly my husband passed away in 2005.
From an early age Laurence played the guitar and loved singing, right through his teens and up till
the day he died he loved his music and was very well known around the pubs and clubs all over the
north west.
Wherever he played people loved him and would always have people up dancing to his music from start
to finish, the audience would never let him off the stage, he was a brilliant entertainer. His Idol
was Elvis and whenever he sang Elvis numbers you couldn't help but sing along, in fact it
didn't matter what he sang it was brilliant.
He also loved his karate and was a black belt and after retiring from competitions he would train
the children in the Kirkby sports centre, they too were devastated when he died. They sent beautiful
floral tributes.
Laurence collapsed in the Kirkby Town Centre one Tuesday lunch time and when we got the phone call
we all dashed to the hospital, we were so shocked. My mum and Lesley got there first and were there
when they tried to rescusitate him but by the time I got there it was too late, I couldn't
believe it the three of us were together the day before laughing and joking as we always did, we
were all devastated and numb with shock.
We still can't believe Laurence has gone but have felt consolation since Mum Died on Christmas
Night 2006 because now they are at last together. Mum never got over losing her precious lovely son
and she pined for him every single day. They are both now resting in eternal peace and I know that
on the night Mum passed away that it was Laurence who came to take her by the hand and lead the way
to eternal peace.
Forgive me lord if I ask why the thorns live on and the roses die.
We Love and miss you so much Laurence, it hurts, there is a void in our lives that can never be
filled, but one day we will all be together never to be parted again.
Missing you is a heartache that will never go away.

i would just like to add to my dads memorial site that he had "FOUR" children Tony, Julie, Garry and me.
my brother tony has four children to his wife lindsey, joel, liam, tony james and maggie. my sister julie has five children to her husband rob, jordan, connor, charlie, ella and alfie. sadley my dad never got to see any of his grandchildren, i know he would of idolised then and been the best grandad ever as he was the best dad to all "FOUR" children and most wonderful husband to my mum Lynne, he is loved and missed dearly and will always live on in our hearts x
